Two days after the deadly stampede that occurred outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, where people had gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) winning the IPL, the police have arrested four people in connection to the case.
According to the police sources, the four arrested people include Nikhil Sosale of RCB management and Sunil Mathew of the event management company DNA. Nikhil Sosale, a top marketing official of the RCB was on his way to the Kempegowda International airport when he was apprehended.
The police, on Thursday, had booked RCB, event management company DNA and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) administration over the stampede. The KSCA officials are currently absconding, the police said.
Based on the FIR, the arrests have been made under various sections of BNS, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, causing grievous injury, unlawful assembly, and endangering human life through rash or negligent conduct.
The development came after 11 people lost their lives in the stampede that occurred on Wednesday evening outside the stadium in Bengaluru, where a large number of people thronged to participate in the RCB’s victory celebrations.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah suspended Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda and three other senior police officials in connection with the stampede case.
Initiating a series of disciplinary actions, in a big move, the Siddaramaiah-led government decided to suspend Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda, along with an additional commissioner (West) Vikas Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Central Bengaluru, Shekar H Tekkannanavar and assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Balakrishna.
The Chief Minister also ordered the arrest of representatives of the RCB team, DNA Entertainment Private Limited, and KSCA, hours after an FIR was registered against them under various charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
