A Criminal Court of France’s Britney Region on Wednesday convicted a former doctor for sexual abuse and rape of 299 children. The accused doctor was sentenced to 20 years. This is the biggest case of sexual abuse of children in the history of France. The hearing of this case was going on since February 2025.

74 -year -old doctor Joel Le Scornenek was the first gastric surgeon. From 1989 to 2014, he sexually abused and raped hundreds of children while working in 9 Clinic and Hospital in France. After this news came to light, 2 victims committed suicide under stress.

At the time when these incidents were carried out, many victims were unconscious or were recovering from the operation under the influence of medicine. So he did not remember anything. The accused first sexually abused his 5 -year -old niece in 1985.

The accused doctor is already serving a sentence of 15 years in the case of rape of 4 children, including his two nieces. He was sentenced in 2020 in this case.

The entire case was revealed in 2017 when the police searched the scarnenek’s house, as he had done indecent acts in front of a 6 -year -old girl living in the neighborhood. The girl’s parents had lodged a complaint about this.

Police found sex toys and doll -filled boxes, computers, and more than two dozen hard drives in his house, with pictures of children’s sexual abuse.

Along with this, her diary of hundreds of pages was also found. In this, he wrote the details of sexual abuse made with children. Two spreadsheets were aware of the names, age, addresses and exploitation of the victims.

Sexual exploitation of children for 30 years

At the beginning of the trial, Le Scornenek denied the allegations. He said that most of the things written in his diary are imaginary and some are related to his work.

But a month after the trial, he confessed to the court and confessed that everything written in his diary is true.

Scornenek said- he sexually abused for 30 years without any regrets. His aim was only to commit sexual offenses with children again and again. In the trial for three months, he stood quietly in court every day and stared at the room.

In March, Scornenek had admitted to 111 rapes and 188 sexual abuse within the court between 1989 and 2014. Of the children who were exploited, 256 were less than 15 years of age at the time of crime. The victims were 158 boys and 141 girls. His average age was 11 years at the time of crime.

Many victims are struggling with depression

A new twist in this whole case came when many victims came to know that they were exploited. After this revelation, some went into depression and left work. Two people committed suicide under stress.

When most of the victims were called to the police station, many of them were struggling with the feeling of shock, anger, anxiety and separation.

The mother of a victim said- People should understand that the police reached the victims, not the victims contacted the police. This is a double blow.

A 36-year-old nurse told the court- when I came to know about the exploitation with me, I understood why I was different. Why did I run away from home at the age of 10. Why did I get upset with me in school? Why did I stutter?

Some victims said that they came to know about this when they were going to become parents themselves. One man said that after this news he has decided not to have children.

The accused doctor was suspended in 2005

The father of a 22-year-old soldier said- our life has become hell. My wife never recovered from this news, she later died of cancer. She used to cry every evening and repeatedly say that she was waiting outside the operation theater where all this happened.

A man told the court- I remember that a person wearing glasses and white coats came into the room in a strange way. The doctor asked to lift his leg and exploited with fingers. He touched my genitals.

During the trial, it was also revealed that there were many major flaws in legal and health administration. Le Scornenek was suspended for four months on downloading Child Abuse Content in 2005, yet he was allowed to treat children till 2017 i.e. arrest.

The accused doctor can apply for parole after cutting two -thirds of his sentence i.e. about 13 years in jail. However, the court will then decide whether it should be given parole or not.

The accused doctor told the court- I am not demanding any kind of softness. I realize how much the victims and their families have suffered due to my crimes.

I just ask for the right to become a better person, I ask for the right to adopt the human side, which I was lacking.
