Talking to Vicky Lalwani, Amit Kumar said that during the Emergency, the government, led by Sanjay Gandhi, had planned several cultural programs in which the artists were to participate. One day a call received that Kishore Kumar has to attend a show in Delhi’s Flying Club.

The government official said, “We are sending plane tickets, come the day after tomorrow.” But Kishore Kumar’s reply was, “I can’t come like this. You have to send someone.” The officials were irritated about his reply and got the answer, “So we will ban you.” And the same thing happened that within 8 hours, the songs of Kishore Kumar were banned across the country.

Kishore Kumar’s radio and Doordarshan were removed Kishore Kumar’s songs were removed from All India Radio and Doordarshan. Producer-directors were indicated that if Kishore Kumar would be in the films which were being made, their songs will not be allowed to be released. Amit Kumar explains, “It was not an unofficial ban, it was an official ban.”

Amit Kumar told that after the ban, Dad said, “Let’s go to Cape Komorin and he set out on a trip to South India.” Vivekananda sat on the rock and spent hours alone, roamed Ooty and Bangalore.

Kishore Kumar How to remove the ban? The ban lasted about 5 months. According to Amit Kumar, Balasaheb Thackeray played an important role in removing this ban. A meeting took place at the Taj Hotel, in which veterans like broadcasting ministers Vidyacharan Shukla, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Vijay Anand were present. Amit Kumar said that Kishore Kumar never apologized.

A ‘Patchup show’ was followed by a three -day musical program at the Ashoka Hotel in Delhi. Which included stars like Kishore Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Dharmendra. When Kishore Kumar landed at Delhi Airport on the show, the entire band, government officials, musicians and crowds were present. Amit Kumar said, “People were shouting slogans that Kishore Kumar Zindabad.”
