The stock market is closed today i.e. 25th December due to Christmas holiday. There will be no trading in the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) due to the holiday.
At the same time, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and National Commodity Exchange (NCDEX) will also remain closed. Today is the last holiday of this year in the market except the weekend. Earlier on November 15, the market was closed due to the holiday of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
Foreign investors sold shares worth ₹2,454.21 crore
- Infosys, SBI, HDFC Bank and Power Grid had dragged the market down. Whereas, ITC, Tata Motors, TCS and Mahindra & Mahindra had pulled the Sensex up.
- According to NSE data, net sales by foreign investors (FIIs) stood at Rs 2,454.21 crore on December 20. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹ 2,819.25 crore.
- On December 24, America’s Dow Jones closed at 43,297 with a rise of 0.91%. The S&P 500 index rose 1.10% to 6,040 and the Nasdaq rose 1.35% to 20,031.
The market closed with a decline yesterday
Earlier yesterday i.e. on 24th December, Sensex had closed at the level of 78,472 with a fall of 67 points. Nifty also fell by 25 points, it closed at the level of 23,727. At the same time, BSE Smallcap closed at the level of 55,023 with a gain of 205 points.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 17 were down and 13 were up. At the same time, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 28 had a rise and 22 had a fall. In the NSE sectoral index, the metal sector closed with the biggest decline of 0.83%.
