Defense Minister Rajnath Singh meeting President Putin in Moscow, the capital of Russia.
India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday in the Russian capital Moscow. The two leaders discussed bilateral defense cooperation. During this, the Indian Defense Minister said that there is immense potential for partnership between India and Russia.
During the meeting Rajnath Singh said-

The friendship between India and Russia is higher than the highest mountain and deeper than the deepest ocean. India has always stood by its Russian friends and will continue to do so in the future.

Before meeting Putin, Rajnath Singh had met Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov. During this, Rajnath Singh stressed on the early delivery of the two remaining units of the S-400 surface-to-air missile system.
A deal was signed between India and Russia in 2018 regarding S-400 air defense system. Under this deal, Russia has so far handed over 3 units of S-400 to India. They are deployed on the China-Pakistan border. S-400 is a long-range missile system of Russia. It is designed to detect, track, and destroy aircraft, drones, and missiles up to a range of 400 kilometers.

Russia handed over INS Tushil to India
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is on a visit to Russia from 8 to 10 December 2024. The Defense Minister also visited Kaliningrad on Monday, where he attended the flag raising ceremony of INS Tushil. This warship is a stealth frigate. In which many advanced systems and multi-role weapon systems are installed. This will significantly increase the strength of the Indian Navy.
INS Tushil is built for the Indian Navy under warship project 11356. Under this project, a deal worth 2.5 billion dollars (about Rs 21 thousand crore) was signed between India and Russia in October 2016. Out of these, 2 warships are to be built in Russia (Yantar Shipyard) and 2 in Goa Shipyard. After delivery of Tushil, Russia will hand over Tamal to India in June-July 2025.


Many other senior Indian officials were present along with Rajnath Singh on the occasion of Tushil’s commissioning.
PM Modi went to Russia twice in 5 months The Defense Minister’s visit to Russia comes five months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Moscow and summit with Putin. During the summit, both sides talked about emphasizing on further enhancing India-Russia defense and military relations.
Modi had also visited Russia in October to attend the annual BRICS summit. President Putin is scheduled to visit India next year to hold the annual summit with Prime Minister Modi.
