Because even though the plan is being made for the Olympics 2036, work on all the facilities like ground, stadium, village, hotel, roads will have to be started much earlier. This can give a new impetus to the economy of Gujarat. Apart from this, lakhs of people from India and abroad will come when the Games are organized. Gujarat will directly benefit from this. In this way, this entire planning will provide employment to lakhs of people directly or indirectly.
Cost may exceed Gujarat’s annual budget Some countries are afraid of hosting the Olympics because there is a fear of it causing a shock to the economy. Therefore small countries cannot take this risk. In the last 30 years of organizing the Olympic Games, China had spent the maximum amount of Rs 4.43 lakh crore on the Beijing Olympics-2008.
After this, Japan spent Rs 2.94 lakh crore in Tokyo Olympics-2020. At the same time, if Gujarat has to make this plan then it will need huge funds from the central government. Gujarat’s annual budget for the year 2024-25 is Rs 2.99 lakh crore. Thus, organizing the Olympics could cost around or more than Gujarat’s annual budget.
