1. India and Canada expelled 6 diplomats each; India recalled its ambassador from Canada

India has asked 6 Canadian diplomats to leave India by October 19. Canada has also expelled 6 diplomats from India. The Indian government has also recalled its High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma. The Indian Foreign Ministry said, ‘We do not trust the Canadian government to provide them security.’ Canada had named Indian diplomats as suspects in a case. It is being linked to the murder case of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar.
Canada said- gave enough evidence: Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner to India Stuart Wheeler said after leaving the Foreign Ministry, ‘We have provided strong evidence linking Indian agents to the murder of our citizen on Canadian soil. Now it remains to be seen what action India takes on these allegations. The Indian Foreign Ministry has rejected these allegations as politically motivated.
Why Nijjar issue is important for Trudeau: Nijjar was murdered on 18 June 2023. In September, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau had accused India of this murder. Canada holds parliamentary elections in October 2025. Khalistan supporters are considered a big vote bank of Trudeau’s party. According to the 2021 census, the total population of Canada is 3.89 crores. Of these, 18 lakh are Indians. These constitute 5% of the total population of Canada. This is an all time high. Whereas silver has increased by Rs 63 to Rs 90,026 per kg. So far this year, the price of gold has increased by Rs 12,649. Retail inflation in September highest in 9 months; Wholesale inflation also increased to 1.84% Due to bad weather and increase in prices of vegetables, retail inflation increased to 5.49% in September, which is the highest in 9 months. 5. Religious dispute in five states: Temple vandalized in Hyderabad, violence in Bahraich, UP for the second day, internet closed
