Bagmati Express hit the goods train from behind. The accident happened on October 11 at around 8.30 pm.
Railways has ordered an investigation into the collision of a passenger train with a goods train at Kavarpettai station in Tamil Nadu. A railway safety official inspected the accident site on Saturday. At the same time, experts terming it as Balasore-2, have expressed the possibility of an accident due to a malfunction in the interlocking process.

Nothing like this happened here. He said, ‘It seems that due to some rusting of the track, the connection of signal and interlocking may have been broken.’
President of All India Loco Running Staff Association of Southern Railway, R. Kumaresan also said, ‘The flaws in the signaling process should be removed.’ In fact, on Friday night, Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express was given the green signal to pass through the main line. It moved onto a loop line on which a goods train was already standing. 19 passengers were injured in the accident. At the same time, 293 people were killed in a similar accident in Balasore on June 2, 2023.

Suspecting a conspiracy… NIA officers started investigation Considering the possibility of conspiracy behind the accident, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also investigating the matter. Officers of the investigating agency reached the spot on Saturday. At the same time, Railways has claimed to open the line in record time. Chennai-Rajdhani Express at 9:05 pm. Passed through here. Meanwhile, more than 1,800 passengers of the accident train were sent to Darbhanga by a special train.
Restoration work continues for the third day There were 1360 passengers on board the train accident that occurred on the night of October 11. After the accident, the stranded passengers were sent on a special train for their onward journey. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin said that the government was rapidly engaged in relief and rescue operations. The restoration work of the line will be completed by today i.e. the morning of 13th October.

Most train accidents occur due to derailment
There are many categories of railway related accidents. One of these is- train accident. There are two types of train accidents.
First- Consequential means such train accidents in which someone dies, someone gets injured or there is damage to railway property. There were a total of 163 consequential train accidents out of a total of 1,392 train derailment incidents between 2017 and 2021.
Second- Other train accidents means such accidents in which there is no loss of life or property. Between 2017 and 2021, there were 1229 cases of train derailment out of a total of 1800 incidents of ‘other train accidents’.
