25-year-old Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012. The police found her skeleton in the forests of Pen, about 70 km from Mumbai.
The hearing on the Sheena Bora murder case was held in the Mumbai trial court on July 10. During this, the CBI informed the court that the bones that had gone missing in April have been found in the storeroom of the CBI’s Delhi office.
Last month, the forensic expert’s testimony was halted due to the non-recovery of these bones. However, the CBI clarified that these remains will not be presented as evidence in the case.
In 2012, these bones were seized from the forest of Pen village in Raigad. Earlier, CBI had said that these were the remains of Sheena Bora. The bones were sent to JJ Hospital in Mumbai for examination.
Sheena Bora was strangled to death in 2012. Former INX Media CEO Indrani Mukerjea along with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai murdered Sheena.
After this, they took the body to the forest of Pen village in Raigad district of Maharashtra and burnt it. Police seized some bones from Pen village. Investigation revealed that these were of a human being.
So far 91 witnesses have testified in this case. The next hearing of the case will also be on Friday 12th July.

The court received an email in which it is claimed that the witness received crores of rupees
The CBI’s argument came after the special CBI court said that it had received an email from a man claiming to be the forensic expert’s brother. The email alleged that the forensic expert had received crores of rupees to lie about Sheena’s missing remains. The doctor has recently bought a house and a clinic in Dubai.
Special Judge Justice Nimbalkar also showed this mail to the lawyers of Indrani, Peter and Sanjeev. All three are out on bail.
Sheena’s murder was revealed after 3 years
No one knew about the Sheena Bora murder case for 3 years. In 2015, in another case, the police arrested Indrani’s driver Rai. During this time, he revealed the murder of Sheena Bora. The skeleton of Sheena found by the police was in two parts. The police did not conduct DNA test of the bones which were reported missing.

Indrani Mukherji got bail in 2022.
The person who decorated the mandap was the first one to see Sheena’s skeleton
Sanjay Singh has told the story of how Sheena Bora’s skeleton was found in his book. He writes, Sheena was murdered on 24 April 2012. Her skeleton was found a month later on 23 May 2012. 34-year-old Ganesh Dhene was the first to see the skeleton.
Ganesh, who did the decoration work of the pandal, was also a ‘Police Patil’, i.e. police friend. His job was to keep an eye on the events happening in his village Hetavane and the surrounding areas.
According to Ganesh, on May 23, 2012, he was returning to the village in his tempo. On the way, he stopped in the forest of Gagode Khurd for toilet. Here he went a little inside the forest to pluck mangoes. Suddenly he felt a foul smell. When he went towards the place of foul smell, he saw a skeleton lying there.
Some torn parts of the bag were lying there. (Later it was found out that this was the same bag which was thrown on Sheena’s burning body. The bag was not completely burnt) Ganesh called the police station. From there a call was made to Pen police station.

The cause of death was not known in the first report
The postmortem of the bones found in the forest was done by Dr. Sanjay Thakur at the Primary Health Center of Raigarh district. He had stated that I had gone to the spot to collect samples of the dead body for medical test. I had prepared the advance death certificate and the postmortem report. There was nothing about the cause of death in that report.
Dr. Sanjay Thakur admitted that the police did not ask me the cause of death. It is true that it is mandatory for the doctor to mention any abnormality or suspicious circumstances that come to light through the postmortem. I did not make any such entry in the postmortem.
Sheena Bora’s skeleton found for the second time after a lot of searching
The Sheena murder case was solved on 28 August 2015. After this, the police went to search for the skeleton buried in the forest. A team of Mumbai Police reached the same place with Ganesh Dhene. The team also had digging labourers and some forensic experts. It had been three years since the skeleton was buried, so it was not easy to find that location.
It was the month of May when the skeleton was buried. It was hot at that time. When the search was done again, it was August and it was raining. Because of this, the entire area was surrounded by greenery.
Indrani claims- Sheena is alive
Indrani has been claiming in court that Sheena Bora is alive. She has also been seen in Kashmir and Kolkata airport. She also raises questions on the method of DNA testing of the skeleton. On Indrani’s request, CCTV footage of the airport has also been submitted in the court. After spending 6 years in jail, she got bail in 2022.

On the disappearance of the skeleton, Indrani Mukherjee says, ‘I cannot believe that two such huge bags containing the remains could disappear just like that. Till now no such evidence has been found which can prove that Sheena is dead.’
