Yagi is the most powerful storm to hit the Pacific region this decade.
Super storm Yagi which arose from the South China Sea has hit the southern coast of China. The storm has hit China’s Hainan province. Due to this, 4 lakh people of Hainan have been forced to leave their homes.
Typhoon Yagi hit Wenchang city in Hainan at 2 pm Indian time. The super typhoon is blowing with winds of 250 km/h.
Yagi is the world’s second most powerful storm this year. Due to this, schools and colleges were closed in Hainan. Apart from this, rail and boat services have also been stopped. All parks in the affected areas have been closed.
According to the report of China’s official news agency Xinhua, 4,19,367 people were evacuated from the affected areas before the storm arrived. Earlier this week, 16 people died in the Philippines due to Yagi. After this, this storm gained more speed. Yagi storm will move towards Beibu Gulf via Hainan and Guangdong province.

Due to the storm, dark clouds have covered Hong Kong.
High level alert issued Due to the powerful Typhoon Yagi, Hainan’s Marine Disaster Emergency Response System has issued a Level-1 warning. This is the highest of the four levels of the emergency system. The Meteorological Department has also predicted that storm waves of 150-230 cm can be seen on the northern coast of Hainan from Friday to Saturday afternoon.
Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of level 17 on the Bureaufort scale for strong winds. Which is the last level of this scale. Along with this, an alert for heavy rain has also been issued.

After the storm, heavy rains began in Hong Kong.
Yagi could be the biggest storm of the decade The weather department estimates that this storm could be the most powerful storm of the decade. It is only slightly weaker than Super Typhoon Ramasun which hit in July 2014 and wreaked havoc in the Philippines, southern China and Vietnam.
