A 22-year-old woman allegedly killed her father by hitting him with a pressure cooker lid and a knife following a dispute over a mobile phone in Gujarat’s Surat on Saturday.

The woman attacked her father after he threw her phone onto the floor, leading to a heated argument. The accused daughter has been identified as Kajal. She was subsequently arrested by the Amroli police.

The incident took place at around 10.30 pm at Kosad Awas H-5, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Amroli police station. The victim, identified as Rameshsinh Kailashsinh Rajput, was at home with his wife, Manjuben, and their younger daughter when the dispute broke out.

According to preliminary information, the argument began after Rameshsinh reprimanded Kajal over household responsibilities and took away her mobile phone before throwing it on the floor. Enraged by his actions, she allegedly attacked him with a pressure cooker lid, repeatedly hitting him on the head. She subsequently stabbed him in the abdomen with a kitchen knife, India Today reported.

Surat Police ACP Parth Chovatia confirmed the incident and said the father and daughter had an argument over domestic matters. According to the officer, Kajal initially assaulted her father with a non-stick pan before attacking him with a kitchen knife.

Rameshsinh was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. Police have arrested Kajal, who is currently in judicial custody.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and examining the sequence of events that led to the fatal confrontation.
