The Russia-Ukraine war is now in its fifth year. In such a situation, Russia’s continuous drone attacks have made it difficult for Ukrainian soldiers to move freely on the ground. They are hiding inside old gas pipelines. Soldiers have to spend several weeks to two months in these tunnels, which are about 4 feet wide. This pipeline, which once carried gas from Russia to Europe, has now become a way to deliver food, weapons and other essential items to Ukrainian soldiers. Russia had earlier used old pipelines. There is a 129 kilometer long network of old gas pipelines in the Kupyansk area of Ukraine. At the end of last year, Russian soldiers were successful in entering Kupyansk through these pipelines. After this, the Ukrainian Army also planned to retaliate from underground. After this, the intelligence unit of the National Guard of Ukraine collected maps of these pipelines. Also, with the help of the old gas experts who built them, a plan was prepared to use underground routes. After this, a ventilation system was installed to supply air to the pipelines. This was the hardest part of this whole thing. Food and ammunition reach during the day. Food and ammunition are delivered to the soldiers through these pipelines. Small electric vehicles are used for this. During the day, essential goods are sent inside in these vehicles, while at night the sacks of soil taken out from the excavation are brought out. Soldiers are able to go out for some time only at night. Soldiers crawl on their knees due to narrow paths. Soldiers have to live in very difficult conditions inside these pipelines. The paths are so narrow that they have to move forward by bending or crawling on their knees. Neither sunlight reaches there nor fresh air is available. Soldiers use plastic bags and bottles for toilets. Gas residues, dust and lack of air in pipelines also pose a threat to them. Injured soldiers are also taken out through these routes. The bodies of soldiers killed on the front are also brought out through these pipelines. Easy to be caught due to thermal imaging: Drones and thermal imaging technology have made the movement of soldiers in open fields extremely dangerous. With the help of thermal imaging, drones can detect the body heat of people present on the ground. In such a situation, it is no longer easy for the soldiers to move forward secretly. For this reason, Ukraine is exploring the possibility of building a network of underground tunnels to connect its army bases, monitoring posts and luggage storage centers. ————————————- Also read this news… America will sell 500 Patriot missiles to Ukraine: deal worth Rs 19 thousand crore, Europe-Canada will bear the entire expense; Zelensky asked for 100 missiles every month.
