On October 18, Singer Daleh Mehndi had come to perform at a fair in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. The singers were performing intermittently, when Uttarakhand’s Health Minister Subodh Uniyal came on the stage and reprimanded him and said – You are fooling people by drinking alcohol, you are not even singing. Do you know that a singer was beaten up and left here? He was so beaten that even his father cannot come here now. Daler Mehndi could not say anything on this public insult and immediately started singing. In the video that surfaced, Daler Mehndi looked quite confused. There was no major controversy then, but due to this insult, his younger brother Mika Singh said, “The image of Daler ji that he has spoiled is very wrong. I will never forgive him (the minister).” Mika told that Daler Mehndi was unwell, yet he performed for about one and a half hours. He also said that if an apology is not made, the artists will stop coming to Uttarakhand. When the video went viral on social media, the entire Bollywood industry came out in support of Daler. Many celebs including Shilpa Shetty, Rajpal Yadav, Anupam Kher, Badshah, Shaan, Kapil Sharma strongly condemned the attitude of the minister. His brother Mika even claimed that Daler never drank alcohol in his life. At the same time, after the controversy escalated, the minister clarified that he was not aware that the singer was unwell. In this matter, on October 22, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to Mika Singh on call and expressed regret and intervened. Then in the statement, Dhami had said – “There must have been public pressure on the minister at that time, Uttarakhand is the land of artists and everyone is respected here.” This is not the only case of this kind. Even before this, many Indian and international celebs have been mistreated on stage. Actress Gauhar Khan was slapped on the stage, while the singer’s face was attacked by a crazy fan. Take a look at some such cases – 1. Gauhar Khan was slapped on stage for objecting to her clothes. In 2014, Gauhar Khan was hosting the show India’s Raw Star, when a man came running on the stage and slapped her hard. The team immediately caught the man and the police was informed. The man said in the police statement that Gauhar was wearing short clothes, so he slapped her. A complaint was registered against that person under sections 354, 323 and 506. 2. Sunil Pal was insulted and chased away from the stage. On January 17, 2026, Sunil Pal was a part of a Mushaira at ISKCON Juhu. He was first called on the stage to give the bouquet, but as soon as he stopped to say something on the stage, he was repeatedly asked to go down and the mic was snatched from his hands. When Sunil requested him to let him say thank you, the person standing nearby said in a stern tone – you go sit, and snatched the mike and forcefully removed him from the stage. 3. Shoe thrown at Singer Karan Aujla Singer Karan Aujla was performing in London, when a person from the crowd threw a shoe at him. Karan became very angry and started abusing from the stage itself. 4. When Guru Randhawa stopped a fan, he got punched. Guru Randhawa was performing on the stage of Vancouver in 2019, when a person started repeatedly trying to climb on the stage. Security stopped the man, but as soon as the singer came down from the stage after finishing the concert, the man punched him in the face, injuring him. 6. A man misbehaved with the singer on stage. In December 2025, Bengali singer Lagnajita Chakraborty performed in a school program in West Bengal. She was singing a song based on Devi, when suddenly a man came on the stage and started misbehaving. The singer was very scared by this incident. The dispute escalated so much that the singer filed a complaint. John Abraham was hurt by a female fan, the actor pushed him. On February 12, 2012, John Abraham had come to Mangaluru (then Mangalore) to inaugurate a jewelery showroom. The crowd gathered to see him. Meanwhile, a female fan who came to take a selfie caught hold of his hand and bit it. John got scared and pushed the woman back. Arijit explained to the fans from the stage itself that artists should not be treated like this. Bottle thrown at Kailash Kher A bottle was thrown at Kailash Kher during his performance in 2023 in Karnataka. The police took action and the accused was arrested. Ava Max was slapped on stage. American singer Ava Max was performing in Los Angeles in June 2023, when a man suddenly came on stage. Before the singer could understand, the man slapped her hard. Due to this, the singer suffered a deep injury in his eye. Sex toy thrown on stage at Lil Nas Bones thrown at Singer Pink American singer Pink was performing at a concert in London in 2023, when a bag was thrown at her. When he opened the bag on the stage itself, there were bones in it. Dave Chappelle was attacked during his performance. During a stand-up comedy show, a man ran on stage and threw Dave Chappelle to the ground. The attacker was carrying what looked like a gun with a knife blade attached to it. The security personnel caught him. Mobile phone thrown at Bebe Rexha’s face Someone in the audience threw a mobile phone at Bebe Rexha’s face during a New York concert in June 2023. He suffered an injury above his eye and had to be taken to hospital. One person was arrested in this case.
