Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has returned to her country after nearly 10 months. She left the country last year after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Now after her return, Machado is demanding elections in the country and change of power. After his return his party released some pictures. In these, she was seen meeting her supporters in a church in Lara state. Supporters hugged him. After this Machado left for the capital Caracas. Seven attempts to return to the country failed. According to Reuters, Machado reached Colombia from Panama by private plane. After this, on October 25, she came to Venezuela by road. People associated with Machado’s party said that she had tried to return to the country at least seven times before, but had not been successful. This time there was coordination between the governments of America, Panama and Colombia for his return. Machado wants to contest elections next year. Machado wants elections to be held in Venezuela by July next year. She herself also wants to contest the presidential election. Currently, the interim leader of the country is Delsey Rodriguez. He has said that there will be elections in the country, but its date has not been told yet. Change of power after Maduro’s capture: The US Army had captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January. After this, US President Donald Trump supported Delsey Rodriguez as interim leader. Machado has old relations with many American leaders. Despite this, the Trump government supported Rodriguez instead of handing over power to him. Trump has also praised Rodriguez many times. However, he says that Venezuela is not ready to hold elections yet. The US is also making agreements related to Venezuela’s oil and other natural resources. Machado has opposed these agreements. Trump said – Hopefully Machado will be safe. When asked about Machado’s return, Trump said that he was not aware of it. He described Machado as a good woman and expressed hope that she would be safe. Trump also said that America is doing good work in Venezuela. Machado has previously talked about giving her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump. However, there are differences between the two regarding who should hold power in Venezuela and when elections should be held. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said ongoing talks between the Venezuelan government and opposition paved the way for Machado’s safe return. He said that America wants that all political parties in Venezuela should be given freedom to express their views and that dialogue between the government and opposition should continue. This can pave the way for conducting fair elections in the country. —————————- Also read this news… Lula became President of Brazil for the fourth time: Won after lagging behind Bolsonaro in the first round; His father was defeated in 2022.
