Field verification of details of VIP voters who received notices during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Delhi has been completed. According to election officials, after verification, their names have been reserved for inclusion in the final voter list.

Those who received notices included BJP leader LK Advani, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, External Affairs Minister S. Many prominent people including Jaishankar, Election Commissioner SS Sandhu, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were present.

Most of them were issued notices due to their names not matching with the previous SIR list of 2002 i.e. being ‘unmapped’. A large number of these people are voters of New Delhi Assembly constituency.

According to election officials, notices have been sent to 33.13 lakh voters due to discrepancies in the information in the enumeration form. The claim-objection phase of SIR will run till September 30 and the final voter list will be released on November 4.

Errors found in the forms of more than 33 lakh voters

98-year-old Lal Krishna Advani, his daughter Pratibha and daughter-in-law Geetika had received the notice as their names did not map from the 2002 SIR voter list. The mapping process of his son Jayant has been completed. All four are voters of New Delhi Assembly constituency.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and his wife Kyoko Jaishankar, who are voters in Sunehari Bagh area of ​​the New Delhi Assembly constituency, also received notices due to ‘no map from previous SIR’.

Notice was also given to former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh. The address of the Vice President’s residence was recorded in his voter record.

Election Commissioner S.S. Sandhu had received the notice due to the difference in his name, while his son Damanbir has been issued a notice due to the difference in the names of his parents. Both are voters of Delhi Cantt assembly constituency.

Third phase of SIR in 16 states including Delhi, Maharashtra

On May 14, the Election Commission had announced Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in 16 states and 3 union territories, including Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Maharashtra. This is the third phase of SIR.

The entire process will run from May 30 to December 23. During this period, verification of 36.73 crore voters is being done. Among the states where SIR will be held, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Manipur have assembly elections next year. Elections in the other 13 states will be held in 2028 and 2029.

Nagaland: After SIR, 11.99 lakh names in draft voter list, 1.59 lakh removed

The draft voter list was released in Nagaland on Sunday after Special Intensive Revision (SIR). In this, about 1.59 lakh names were not included in the list of 13.57 lakh voters before SIR.

The new draft list contains names of 11.99 lakh voters. During the SIR, the previous list found 29,944 voters dead, 1.23 lakh absent or permanently transferred and 5,059 voters registered at more than one place.
