The Telangana government has declared September 25, 2026, a general holiday in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, in view of the Ganesh idol immersion procession.

According to the order, the holiday has been declared to avoid inconvenience to students, employees and the general public during the large-scale Ganesh immersion processions scheduled for Friday, September 25.

As September 25 has been declared a holiday, the government has decided to compensate for the working day by declaring November 14, 2026, a working day in the areas covered by the holiday order.

November 14 would otherwise have been a holiday as the second Saturday. Government offices, schools and colleges covered under the September 25 holiday will therefore remain open on November 14.

The change has been made specifically to compensate for the additional holiday declared for Ganesh immersion.

Students in government and other educational institutions covered by the order will not have classes on September 25.

The holiday applies to institutions located in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri. Students and parents should note that institutions outside these areas will follow their respective local holiday schedules unless separate orders are issued.

Hyderabad is set to witness large-scale Ganesh immersion processions on September 25, coinciding with Ananta Chaturdashi.

Major Ganesh idols from across the city will be taken in processions to designated immersion points, including Hussain Sagar. Authorities have made arrangements to manage the movement of large idols and crowds during the immersion.

The Khairatabad Ganesh idol will also be taken up for immersion as part of the day’s celebrations, with authorities preparing additional cranes and platforms at Hussain Sagar to facilitate the process.

The Telangana government has therefore declared September 25 a general holiday in the specified areas, while November 14 will be observed as a working day instead.
