US President Donald Trump has signed the Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 into law, extending existing US sanctions on Iran. Trump said on Friday that the war with Iran will end “soon” and predicted that gas prices could fall to prewar levels, or even lower, once the conflict ends.
Trump said the US had to act to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. “Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” he said, adding that people would have to pay some extra for it. He also said that without US strikes by B-2 bombers, Iran could have developed a nuclear weapon within days.
Fighting Intensifies In Yemen
Tens of thousands of people marched through Sanaa in support of the Houthis and against Saudi Arabia as fighting intensified in western Yemen. Yemeni government forces claimed they killed 30 Houthi fighters and wounded more than 60 in clashes in Taiz’s al-Wazi’iyah district.
The UN warned that Yemenis face “multiple concurrent health risks” as rising violence has displaced more than 112,000 people in two weeks.
Iran Mobilises Volunteers
Around 313,000 people reportedly joined the ‘Sacrifice for Iran’ campaign in Tehran, while an Iranian official said around 31 million people across Iran had taken part. The campaign seeks to mobilise volunteers and demonstrate Iran’s readiness to defend itself against possible external threats.
US Missile Stocks Under Strain
Bloomberg reported that the US has warned allies of weapons delivery delays of up to five years as the Iran war rapidly exhausts American stocks. Germany has reportedly been told to wait five years for Tomahawks, while Japan could face delays of up to two years.
The US has used more than half of its advanced Patriot variants, a third of its Tomahawks and almost half of its precision strike missiles and THAAD interceptors in Iran. Up to two-thirds of its missile defence interceptor inventory has been used.
Pentagon officials told their inspector general that the firing rate had caused “strategic inventory shortfalls” and exposed industrial base bottlenecks. Ukraine’s Patriot requests are also being affected, while Eastern European deliveries have slipped since February 28.
