Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim played the song from the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge on the video with PM Modi.
After the 18th BRICS Summit, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Bollywood playlist is in discussion on social media. He has paired famous Bollywood songs with different pictures and videos of his India tour.
The song chosen for each picture seemed to be related to the occasion. Anwar Ibrahim included the song ‘Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam’ from Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ on his reel with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders.
On another picture with Modi, the title song of Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor’s film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ was used.
‘Come on’ with Putin Anwar Ibrahim played the song ‘Chale Chalo’ from Aamir Khan’s film ‘Lagaan’ for a photo with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The message of moving forward together was given through this song also.

While addressing the BRICS Summit, Anwar played the song of Salman Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta’s film ‘Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega’ along with his pictures. In the video of his farewell from India, he used the song ‘Kandhon Se Milte Hain Khandhe’ from the film ‘Lakshya’. Both songs give a message of coming together and unity.
‘Aisa Desh Hai Mera’ with Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi During his visit to India, Anwar Ibrahim also met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. While sharing pictures of the food with him, he played the song ‘Aisa Desh Hai Mera’ from the film ‘Veer-Zaara’. This song shows the cultural diversity of India.
‘Extending a partner hand’ with Iranian President Anwar placed the song ‘Sathi Haath Badhana’ from the 1957 film ‘Naya Daur’ on the photo of his meeting with Iranian President Masood Pejeshkian. This song gives the message of moving forward together.

Anwar Ibrahim sang Kishore Kumar’s famous song ‘Khwab Ho Tum Ya Koi Haqiqat…’ at the BRICS Summit dinner on 12 September. He also hummed Mukesh’s song Dost Dost Na Raha….
Anwar shared its video on his social media account The video is about one and a half minutes long.

Anwar is a fan of Kishore Kumar, has hummed this song before too.
The PM of Malaysia has already said that he is a fan of Kishore Kumar. He also hummed the same song during an interview in India in 2024.
Additionally, he had shared an official video montage during PM Modi’s visit to Malaysia in February 2026. The popular song ‘Bole Chudiyan’ from ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ was used in it.
PM Modi had visited Malaysia on February 8 this year. Then Anwar Ibrahim himself reached the airport to welcome him.
27 lakh people of Indian origin in Malaysia, Bollywood and Tamil movies are popular
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, there are about 27.5 lakh people of Indian origin in Malaysia, which is about 9% of the country’s population. Of these, about 20 lakh people speak Tamil. Bollywood and Tamil movies are watched a lot here.
Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Dilwale’ had earned around Rs 29 crore in Malaysia. Whereas ‘Jawan’ did a business of around Rs 22 crore and ‘Pathan’ did a business of around Rs 9 crore.
Tamil films also have a big market here. Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’, released in 2025, did a business of around ₹26-27 crore in Malaysia, while Ajit Kumar’s ‘Good Bad Ugly’ did a business of around ₹22 crore. 2026’s Suriya starrer ‘Karuppu’ is also among the highest-grossing Indian films in Malaysia with a collection of around ₹22 crore. At the same time, Vijay’s ‘Got’ did a business of around ₹32 crore and Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Amaran’ did a business of around ₹26 crore.
Anwar has also been Deputy PM
Anwar Ibrahim is the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia. He assumed charge on 24 November 2022. Earlier, he had become the 7th Deputy PM of Malaysia in 1993.
In 1998, Anwar was removed from all government posts by then Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. He was jailed in April 1999 on corruption and homosexuality charges and was released in 2004 after his conviction was overturned. After this, Anwar remained the leader of the opposition from 2008 to 2015. Becomes Prime Minister after victory in the 2022 general elections.
