In Britain, Sikh girls are allegedly being trapped, brainwashed and then converted. This claim has been made by a Sikh youth. In a podcast of a UK channel, a young man attacked Pakistani grooming gangs targeting non-Muslim girls, especially Sikh girls.

According to the young man, for this, an attempt is made to influence the girls in a certain way. Initially, Sikh youths are humiliated by jokes and taunts in front of girls, so that a more impressive image of Muslim youths can be created.

Humiliating Sikh youth: According to the youth’s claim in the podcast, Pakistani grooming gangs publicly humiliate Sikh youths. The youth said that in places like school, college and workplace, attempts are made to weaken the social status of Sikh youth through mockery, taunts, racial or ethnic comments and alleged physical abuse. According to him, its objective is to create a more ‘dominant’ or influential image of Muslim youth in front of Sikh women.
Claim to build friendship and influence: According to the youth, after this an effort is made to increase friendship with Sikh girls. This allegedly involves some Muslim friends, who tell the Sikh girl positive things about the Muslim youth and help her develop trust in him. The alleged process involved an attempt to gain the girl’s trust and emotional inclination by giving her expensive gifts, cash, and taking her to places like restaurants, clubs and bars, the youth claimed. This may not be a mere friendship but rather part of a process of gradually building influence and dependence.
Raising questions about religion: The youth claimed that questions related to religion are asked in the third phase. Questions and doubts are raised about the girl’s own religion i.e. Sikhism and at the same time an attempt is made to portray the Muslim religion as better or greater. The young man said that on one hand the girl’s faith in her own religion is weakened and on the other hand the notion of superiority of Muslim religion is created.
Isolation from family and friends: The youth said that once the girl’s trust is gained and her religious faith weakens, attempts are allegedly made to distance her from family and old friends. The youth claimed that the gang members create situations like limiting the girl’s interaction with her family, breaking her contact with friends, mentally isolating her or forcing her to leave the house. Due to which the girl gets away from her society and then in the end her religion is converted.

Even before this, a girl had made similar claims about Sikh girls in Britain. About 6 months ago, Punjabi Navdeep Singh living in England had posted a video of a girl. The girl had claimed that ‘Kaur-to-Khan’ movement is going on in Britain, under which Sikh girls are being trapped and converted. He had blamed the alleged grooming gang of Pakistani origin operating in the UK for this.
The girl had claimed that a Sikh girl is given 10 thousand pounds for converting ‘Kaur’ into ‘Khan’. According to him, grooming gangs first target girls and create emotional bonds with them. After this, they are taken around in expensive cars and restaurants and when the girl comes under their influence, her religion is converted.
The girl also claimed that the amount for religious conversion of girls belonging to different religions is different. According to him, for converting a Sikh girl to Muslim, 10,000 pounds i.e. about 11 lakh rupees is given, while for converting a Hindu or Christian girl, 5,000 pounds i.e. about 5.5 lakh rupees is given. All these claims have not been independently verified.
