A school run by a BJP MLA had to withdraw a circular on Thursday. In this circular, students were advised not to bring root vegetables like onion, garlic, potato and beetroot in their lunchboxes during the ‘Paryushan’ festival celebrated by the Jain community. This circular sparked controversy and local political parties including MNS opposed it.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut described the ban as “worse than love jihad” and demanded the government to close the schools. MNS spokesperson Yogesh Khaire described the circular as a form of “food jihad”.
However this order has been withdrawn. Mira-Bhayander MLA Narendra Mehta runs ‘Seven Square Academy’.
Mehta said the school had only requested students to avoid these food items and not issued any order.

Airlines should conduct drug test of all pilots once
After the drug test of an Air India pilot came positive, DGCA has directed all the airlines to conduct drug test of all the pilots by July next year. Airlines have started investigation. On August 4, Air India’s Airbus A320 flight from Phuket to India had fallen 300 feet. The captain’s drug test was found positive after landing. Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said – The revised rules will be ready by the end of this month.
