Pakistan team is in constant controversies after the defeat against England in the second test.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started an internal investigation regarding the discipline and behavior of the players present on the England tour. PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir gave this information through a social media post. He said that this step has been taken by taking seriously the news coming in the media.
After the defeat in the second test against England, Pakistan had dropped 7 players from the team. Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also removed. In their place, white ball team coaches Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke have been given the responsibility.
Since then the team’s tour of England has been in continuous controversy. Earlier it was reported that Pakistan has also confiscated the phones of all the players.
The matter of anti-corruption angle has not come to the fore yet
PCB spokesperson said- ‘Taking serious note of the media reports regarding the discipline and behavior of our players during the England tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board has started an internal disciplinary inquiry. At present all these matters are being reviewed internally.
The official statement released on social media made it clear that this is only a disciplinary process. Through this, aspects related to the conduct and discipline of the players are being checked. However, no anti-corruption angle has come to light in the case yet.
PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir has given information about the investigation.
Talk of forensic investigation of mobile phone
Aamir said- ‘PCB handles such cases as per its prescribed procedure. This process is being done under the rules of PCB and fair opportunity is being given to all concerned.
It is being told that the mobile phones of the players were taken for forensic investigation into the allegations of leaking of information to the media. Although this has not been officially confirmed.
PCB had confiscated players’ phones
Before the third and last Test match against England, Pakistan Cricket Board has confiscated mobile phones of some players.
These phones will remain in the possession of the board till the end of the test match. PCB has not yet told which players’ phones have been taken and what is the reason for this action.
However, Pakistan cricket has a long association with match fixing. This also includes the spot-fixing case of the 2010 England tour. Three players were banned in this case.
7 players and 2 coaches already removed
After Pakistan’s poor performance, PCB has made a major reshuffle in the team before the third test. The board released 7 players including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Aga from the team. New players have been included in their place.
Apart from this, head coach Safraz Ahmed was removed and in his place Mike Hesson was given the responsibility for the third test. Ashley Noffke has also been brought in place of bowling coach Umar Gul.
Pakistan Had lost the first test by an innings and 103 runs and the second test by 194 runs. Now the third and last Test of the series will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham from 9 September. In such a situation, the report of players’ phones being taken into the custody of PCB has further increased the ongoing turmoil within the team.
