Legendary Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr were heavily trolled by Al-Ittihad in the wee hours of Sunday, September 6, after they beat the former 2-1 in a Saudi Pro League game, while claiming that Al-Nassr cheated but still couldn’t win.

George Ilenikhena scored a brace for Al-Ittihad in the fourth and 22nd minutes, before Angelo Gabriel pulled one back for Al-Nassr in the 36th minute.

Late in the match, the Al-Ittihad bench sent Danilo Pereira a note containing tactical instructions. Ronaldo was caught on camera trying to sneak up on his compatriot for a glimpse of the message, leaving both players in fits of laughter.

“Cheating and still losing 🔥🤷🏻‍♂️,” Al-Ittihad tweeted in the wee hours of Sunday.

The loss to Al-Ittihad leaves Ange Postecoglou’s team three points behind leaders Al-Hilal, who have won all five of their opening games. The Knights of Najd remain second in the Saudi Pro League standings, ahead of third-placed Al-Qadsiyah on goal difference.

Ronaldo has made a slow start to the 2026-27 season with Al-Nassr. After missing their 3-0 win against Al-Fateh in the campaign opener in August, he made his season debut in the 4-0 victory away to Al-Riyadh.

Coming on in the second half, Ronaldo scored his team’s fourth goal seven minutes from time to open his account for the season, but drew a blank as the Knights of Najd bagged a 3-2 victory over Al-Ettifaq.

Ronaldo returned to the scoresheet in the 2-1 home victory over Al-Taawoun before completing his first full 90 minutes of the season in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Al-Ittihad.

But Ronaldo couldn’t find the net in the defeat.

Postecoglou’s team will look to return to winning ways when they host Abha on Wednesday before travelling to Al-Khaleej three days later.
