IIM Ahmedabad has recorded its highest-ever international Maximum Earning Potential (MEP) in the final placements for its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP). According to the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) report, the highest international MEP stood at $243,000, or around Rs 2.31 crore.
This is the highest international MEP recorded by IIM Ahmedabad since the IPRS system was introduced in 2011. It is also significantly higher than the previous record of $192,581, which was reported in 2014.
The highest-paying international offer was made for a business development role in the IT sector in Dubai, reported Times of India. IIM Ahmedabad said the MEP figure includes the annual cash salary, any one-time cash payment and the total guaranteed cash component.
IT Sector Offers Highest International Pay
The IT sector emerged as the highest-paying sector for international placements this year. This marks a change from the previous five years, when BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) emerged as the top-paying overseas sector twice. Consulting and business conglomerates topped the list once each during this period.
A total of 392 students took part in the placement process. Of them, six students accepted international roles. Four of these placements were in Dubai, while one each was in Hong Kong and Japan.

Domestic Placements Also Remain Strong
In India, the highest MEP stood at Rs 81.6 lakh. This was the third-highest maximum earning potential recorded by IIM Ahmedabad in the last five years, the report added.
The median MEP increased to Rs 36.98 lakh, making it the highest median figure reported by the institute during the same period.
BFSI continued to be the highest-paying domestic sector for the second year in a row.
However, consulting remained the biggest recruiter in terms of the number of offers. It made 155 offers, followed by BFSI with 82 offers. IT and business conglomerates made 34 offers each, while consumer services accounted for 15 offers.
In terms of the highest compensation offered, BFSI was at the top, followed by IT, consumer services and automotive. Each of these sectors reported a highest MEP of Rs 50 lakh or more.
Excluding the automotive sector, which had only one candidate, BFSI recorded the highest median salary. It was followed by consulting, engineering and technology, and consumer services.
Business Development Roles See Sharp Rise
The placement report also showed a major increase in business development roles.
Between 2022 and 2024, the number of annual offers for such roles remained between two and five. However, the number increased sharply to 27 offers in 2026.
Overall, 182 companies took part in the placement process, offering jobs across around 267 different roles.
Among individual recruiters, Accenture Strategy made the highest number of offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs), at 36. It was followed by BCG with 33 offers, FinIQ Consulting with 24 and McKinsey & Company with 21.
The report also noted that more than 50 new companies joined IIM Ahmedabad’s lateral and final placement processes in 2026.
