Comedian Samay Raina is once again embroiled in controversy. Controversy started with the new episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’

Samay Raina had released the new episode of season 2 of ‘India’s Got Latent’ on Friday. Some parts of it started going viral rapidly on social media. These also included a conversation between Raina and standup comedian Sharon Verma about their native places. Sharon Verma is from Bihar, while Samay Raina comes from a Kashmiri Pandit family. The controversy started from this conversation.

Objection to comments regarding Bihar and Kashmiri Pandits

After the viral clip, many social media users described Raina’s comments as objectionable. Especially some people from the Kashmiri Pandit community said that any community or region should not be made fun of by making it the subject of comedy. The controversy has sparked debate about the limits of humor and social sensitivity in standup comedy.

Ram Kadam said – the aim is to gain publicity from the controversy

BJP MLA Ram Kadam criticized Samay Raina’s alleged comments. He said that some people in the society deliberately give controversial statements so that they can get discussion and fame. According to Ram Kadam, Sanatan Hindu religion and Kashmiri Pandits cannot be made the subject of joke or ridicule.

He also said that if a person intentionally says an objectionable thing and later apologizes, it does not absolve him of his responsibility. According to him, by then the person concerned has got publicity across the country through the controversial statement.

Archana Puran Singh also gave a befitting reply in the show

In the same episode, Samay Raina also made fun of actress and TV personality Archana Puran Singh. A contestant told that apart from poetry, he also does dancing, vlogging and rapping. As soon as vlogging was mentioned, Raina took a dig at Archana Puran Singh’s family vlogs and said that vlogging does not require talent. On this, Archana immediately retorted and replied – ‘Abusing is talent.’ The audience present in the show applauded his answer.

The show has been in controversies before also

‘India’s Got Latent’ and Samay Raina have been in controversies before also. Questions have been raised from time to time regarding the language and content of the show.
