Norway and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has sent shockwaves through the internet by cutting his hair short ahead of the new Premier League season. Long hair has been a part of Haaland’s iconic look for several years now, which went mega-popular during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. But now, it seems like the 26-year-old will fashion a buzz cut in England.
His fans could not believe their eyes, with some asking ‘who the hell are you?’ in the comments of his social media announcement.
Haaland’s goal-scoring prowess made him an immediate hit in the Premier League after he joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 — he has scored 112 league goals in 132 matches already. Within a few months, he became one of the faces of the league.
That image only enhanced at the World Cup, where he scored seven goals, including a brace on his debut and another against Brazil. His charismatic off-field personality rang well with the USA’s sports-loving fans, and he became an overnight social media sensation.
“How we put Norway on the map is maybe one thing that touches me the most,” Haaland said after Norway’s narrow defeat in the quarterfinals to England. “Hopefully now we can establish something when it comes to Euros, World Cups and everything because our generation is amazing and also all this gives motivation to young people back in Norway that it’s possible to play a big stage in the world in a Norwegian shirt.”
On Sunday (August 23), he’ll play his 200th match across competitions for City, at home against Bournemouth FC. He looked a bit out of sorts against Arsenal in the Community Shield final but has a history of starting Premier League seasons with a goal-scoring streak.
