US President Donald Trump has claimed that he should have received the Pulitzer Prize for writing. Trump criticized journalists who won Pulitzers for reporting on the Russia-related investigation at a rally on Wednesday. Also, while taking credit for stopping many wars, he once again expressed his displeasure at not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump alleged that the journalists had done wrong reporting in this case and they should not have received the award for it. Trump has written 19 books so far. Among these came in 1987 The Art of the Deal Is the most popular.
The Pulitzer Prize is counted among the most prestigious honors in journalism. However, it is also given for books, drama and music.
Trump was made fun of on social media
Social media users mocked Trump over his claim for the Pulitzer Prize. Some people questioned his writing ability.
One user wrote, “A person who can’t even write a children’s book thinks he should win a Pulitzer?”
Another user took a dig at Trump’s way of speaking and wrote, “Trump wants a Pulitzer for writing? He treats the English language as if he has taken it hostage. It would take a search team to understand his sentences.”
Trump administration’s reporting also included in 2026 Pulitzer
According to the official list in 2026, a total of 25 Pulitzer Prizes were awarded. These included categories for journalism, books, drama, music and a special honour.
These awards also honored the reporting done on the policies and functioning of the Trump government.

Two newspapers got Pulitzer in 2018 on Russian issue
In the rally, Trump mentioned about receiving an award on a matter related to Russia, this is a matter of 2018. In 2018, The New York Times and The Washington Post received Pulitzer Prizes for news related to Russia. These newspapers had reported in their news that Russia had interfered in the 2016 US presidential election and in its investigation, the relations of Trump’s election team were investigated.
Trump calls these reports wrong. He had also demanded withdrawal of the award. But in 2022, the Pulitzer Board rejected his demand after investigation. The board said it found no evidence to prove that reports of the award winning were later proven false.
