Lyricist and writer Manoj Muntashir’s drama show ‘Radha Se Ranbhoomi Tak’ is going to be staged today on 22nd and 23rd August at Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium, Indore. Neelam Muntashir and Vikram Mehra have produced this show. Puneet J. The show, directed by Pathak, has brought alive the untold journey of Shri Krishna. In a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Manoj Muntashir spoke openly about the psychology of Shri Krishna, his 2-year writing journey related to the study of more than 50 books, the unwavering love of Radha-Krishna and the messages of Shri Krishna for today’s Gen-Z generation. Question: What is the biggest change that we find in Krishna as he reaches ‘From Radha to the battlefield’? Answer: Nothing has changed in Krishna. Krishna was always perfect in love, policy, war and philosophy. How can something that is perfect change? Question: Why should viewers watch this show? Answer: Our show is not in any race. We are not trying to be good or better than anyone. We just want to present before you a journey of Krishna that you might not have seen before on any stage, cinema or television. There are some moments in the show at which I have heard the audience hiccuping and crying, while there are also many moments where people get up from their seats and dance. The last meeting of Radha-Krishna, the curse of Gandhari, the death of Krishna, the dismemberment of Draupadi and the way we were able to present the essence of Geeta. All these moments have emerged as unforgettable. And most importantly, it is an entertaining and emotional experience for the entire family. Children can watch it for the grand battle scenes, adults for its music and grandeur and elders can’t help but get emotional during Geeta Saar. I read more than 50 books to write this show. Studied several scriptures and texts on Krishna including Srimad Bhagwat and Harivansh Purana and gave shape to it after a writing journey of more than two years. I urge you to watch this show just once. After that the audience themselves come back to watch it seven-eight times. In Mumbai we found many people who had come to watch the show for the eighth consecutive time. Our producers Mr. Vikram Mehra and Neelam Muntashir and director Punit J. Pathak has together created a show of which I am extremely proud. Question: There is a complete journey in the name of the play itself. What is Krishna to you, lover, strategist, philosopher or warrior? Answer: My Krishna is the complete God. He was born in a human form, hence he is a lover, a friend, a teacher, a son and a father. But for me, Krishna is the greatest philosophical warrior, who says “That peace which is afraid of war is condemnable and that war which is fought for peace is praiseworthy”. Question: What is your biggest unspoken point in this story? Answer: There is a question that has always troubled me. What was going on in Krishna’s mind when he was facing death in his last moments? What was God thinking? We have tried to understand and feel that same untold moment. Question: Which is the incident that most impressed you in Krishna’s journey? Answer: If there is one, let me know. But two things particularly impress me, the balance that Krishna was able to maintain between war and peace. Today’s world is failing to maintain this balance. And secondly, our mistake of considering success as happiness. From the life journey of Krishna, you will understand that there is a difference between success and happiness. Once you return to Krishna, you will get all the answers. Question: Why could Radha and Krishna never unite? Answer: How could Radha and Krishna be one, when there were never two? Krishna never went away from Radha. He himself had become Radha from head to toe. Even today, if you want to call Krishna, you have to take the name of Radha Rani. ‘Radhe-Radhe said, Bihari will come.’ Question: What was Krishna’s biggest weapon, intelligence, policy or psychology? Answer: Krishna’s biggest superpower was psychology. Krishna was the world’s first psychological doctor. The West’s claim that the father of psychology was Sigmund Freud is completely baseless. 5000 years before Freud, the biggest scripture of psychology had been revealed which we call Srimad Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavad Gita is a capsule of 700 verses, which is the medicine for every sorrow of the world. If you want to understand Geeta easily, then watch it once from Radha to the battlefield, you might not have seen such an emotional form of Geeta till now. Question: If Krishna himself asks you ‘How much did he understand me while writing my story?’ So what would you say? Answer: I do not claim to understand Krishna at all. I have only one claim and that borders on arrogance. I believe in Krishna, I have held his hands, he can take me wherever he wants. I urge the same to all my listeners and viewers. Walk holding Krishna’s hand, you will never have to hold anyone’s feet in life. Question: As a writer, were you afraid that your faith might come in the way or your imagination might cross the limits? Answer: I first filled myself in as much as I could about Krishna and then started writing. Read more than 50 books, texts written on Krishna, read Geeta and embarked on this journey with full devotion and dedication. And when we have the blessings of Shrinathji, then what to worry about? We have done around 30 houseful shows across the country and have heard only praise from everywhere. This is the grace of Lord Krishna. Now there are four shows at Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Indore on 22nd and 23rd August. I am requesting with folded hands to the illustrious children of Mother Ahilyabai Holkar and my friends of Indore, come once and experience Krishna afresh. Question: Is there any aspect of the story of Radha-Krishna which cinema has not yet touched completely? Answer: I think our entire show is like this. The way we have presented the story of Krishna, the perspective and emotion with which it has been presented on the stage, such presentation has not been done on any medium in this country till date. Question: What would you say about the presentation of ‘Krishnavataram’ released this year, which was highly appreciated? Answer: Absolutely, that is a very good film. The public has appreciated it and this is the biggest approval. I haven’t seen the film yet, but many of my friends have seen the film and praised it highly. Question: Today’s generation is confused between relationships, career and conflict. What should they learn from Krishna? Answer: I would just like to say this to Gen-Z – There will be struggles in life, but have faith, the one who has given struggles will also give success. “Had Narayan not been with you, the world would have been lost, like the paper boat you would have drowned long ago. There must be some ground on which your feet would rest. If war is written in life, then Keshav must also be written.”
