Former Defense Minister of Ukraine Mikhailo Fedorov (35) has issued a direct challenge to President Zelensky by demanding elections amid war. He said, ‘Russia has no right to decide when the people of Ukraine will elect their government. Democracy cannot be held hostage. Elections have not been held in Ukraine since 2022 due to martial law. Fedorov, once close to Zelensky, is now standing against him. Read the stories of Fedorov, the second most popular leader of Ukraine… Fedorov, connected to the youth through Facebook, was elected student mayor of Zaporizhia in 2012 during student politics. He created the Active-Z organization to connect the youth, but lack of funds was a major challenge. He reached out to the youth through advertisements on Facebook and gradually thousands of students started joining his campaigns. At that time this method was limited to student politics, but this digital thinking later became his identity. Zelensky joined his team. At the age of 22, Fedorov started a digital marketing agency. Zelensky was a comedian during that time. Fedorov’s team then got the job of promoting Zelensky’s show. Fedorov sold a lot of tickets for the show by running advertisements on social media and a crowd gathered there for the first time. Zelensky was impressed by this. A few years later he included Fedorov in his team. In 2019, Fedorov took charge of his online election campaign and played a key role in the victory. Later he was made Deputy PM.
