The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered to send jailed former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. The court said that Imran should be transferred to the hospital today itself. A medical board will also be formed to examine and treat his health. A bench of three judges was hearing petitions related to Imran’s treatment and meeting with his family. The bench was headed by Justice Shahid Waheed. It included Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim. The court asked for the complete medical report of Imran. During the hearing, the court asked for the complete medical report of Imran from the Adiala jail administration. Justice Shahid Waheed said that instead of the complete report, only its summary has been presented before the court. In the report of the jail administration, concern was also expressed about the condition of Imran’s pulse and heart. The report mentioned the advice of getting angiography done. On this, Advocate General of Islamabad said that this investigation can be done in the hospital outside the jail. PTI’s lawyer also demanded to find out the reason for the formation of blood clot in Imran’s body and get it examined by his personal doctors. Court said – Do not do politics on Imran’s health. Supreme Court asked PTI not to make Imran’s medical condition a political issue. The court also raised questions on the statements given by PTI leaders and family in the media after the meeting. Justice Afghan said that the party should decide that there should be no politics regarding Imran’s health. The court also raised questions about Imran’s meeting with his sisters. Justice Waheed said that meeting the sisters is not a favor but their fundamental right. The court sought information about all the meetings between Imran and his sisters in the last three years. Imran’s sons have also been asked to provide information about their conversations and call detail records. Eye disease mentioned in jail report The Superintendent of Adiala Jail had submitted a two-page medical report of Imran in the Supreme Court on Monday. It also mentions his eye disease Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO). According to the report, Imran is undergoing treatment for this disease and the vision in his affected eye has almost become normal. The report also mentions 39 medical examinations between November 4, 2023 and August 10, 2026. Imran is in jail since 2023. 73 year old Imran Khan is in jail since August 2023. After stepping down from the post of Prime Minister in 2022, many cases were registered against him. These also include cases related to government gifts and illegal marriages. Imran and his party have been calling these cases political actions and deny the allegations.
