The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has announced full support for protests being organised across Balochistan by the Balochistan National Party (BNP) over alleged airstrikes in Sorab and Gwadar.
In a statement, the BYC condemned what it described as the bombing of civilian areas by Pakistani jet aircraft in Sorab and Gwadar on the morning of August 13.
“We announce our full support for the protests taking place across Balochistan, organised by the Balochistan National Party, against the bombing by Pakistani jet aircraft in Sorab and Gwadar,” the BYC said.
The group said it supports the BNP’s call for protests over the reported deaths of Baloch women, children and elderly people, and against what it described as “state barbarism”.
The BYC alleged that ongoing state operations and repression in Balochistan had reached a critical point, saying that remaining silent would amount to accepting oppression.
The committee appealed to people across Balochistan to participate in the BNP-led protests and raise their voices against the alleged attacks.
The BYC also called on international organisations to take note of the reported incidents and hold Pakistan accountable for what it described as alleged violations against civilians.
The allegations regarding the airstrikes and civilian casualties could not be independently verified.
THE AIRSTRIKES
Local sources and Baloch activist groups reported that the Pakistani military allegedly carried out airstrikes on residential areas in Balochistan’s Sorab and Gwadar districts around August 12–13, 2026. The reported aerial operations occurred amid a sharp spike in violence and coordinated attacks by the separatist Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) targeting security posts, police stations, and infrastructure.
Telecommunication and internet services in parts of the affected districts were reportedly disrupted, making rescue efforts difficult and movement restricted.
The Pakistani military did not officially confirm the alleged civilian casualties from airstrikes. State security sources instead attributed some local casualties to the premature detonation of explosives being handled by militants, followed by wider counter-insurgency operations.
