CBSE has asked schools and examination centres to upload practical marks on the Board’s portal on the same day the examinations are conducted.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued detailed guidelines for the conduct of practical examinations for Class 12 students appearing in the Supplementary Examinations 2026. The Board has announced that the practical examinations will be held from July 29 to August 4, 2026.
According to the guidelines, the practical examinations are meant for students placed in the Compartment category under Repeat Practical (RP) and Repeat Theory and Practical (RB). Students in the RP category will appear only for the practical examination, while their theory marks from the main examination will be carried forward. Students in the RB category will have to appear in both the theory and practical examinations during the supplementary examination.
CBSE has said that practical examinations for regular students will be conducted in their respective schools, while private candidates will take the examinations at their allotted theory examination centres. In cases where a centre does not have the required facilities for a particular subject, the concerned Regional Office will arrange the practical examination at a nearby school or examination centre.
Schools have been instructed not to appoint External Examiners on their own. “The Regional Offices will appoint External Examiners for all students of Class XII. The internal examiners shall be appointed by the schools/centre superintendent from their own school teachers,” the notice stated.
CBSE has also asked schools and examination centres to upload practical marks on the Board’s portal on the same day the examinations are conducted. Once uploaded, the marks will be treated as final, and no requests for changes will be accepted.
Students have been advised to contact their schools or examination centres by July 27, 2026, with a copy of their result or marksheet and admit card to confirm the schedule of their practical examinations. They should report to the designated venue on the date and time informed by their school or examination centre.
The Board has directed schools to prepare subject-wise lists of eligible students, coordinate with Regional Offices for the appointment of External Examiners, and inform students about the examination schedule well in advance. Regional Offices have also been asked to ensure the timely conduct of practical examinations, appointment of examiners, uploading of marks, and submission of practical answer books.
