Jantar Mantar Protest Live Updates: Fresh groups of students swelled at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Wednesday, July 22, amid the ongoing protests over the recent paper leak in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026. Heavy police forces have been stationed at and around Jantar Mantar, where the protestors are gathering to stage a sit-in demonstration.
The protests –– led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) –– have been seeking broader educational reforms and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.
Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged Wednesday that internet services were suspended across the protest site, asking if the government was planning another “crackdown”. He was referring to the alleged police action on protesting students, who assembled at Jantar Mantar on Monday, July 20, and carried out the proposed ‘Sansad Chalo’ march to put forth their demands.
‘Govt Open To Dialogue’
Hours after visiting activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram –– where he was shifted following a Delhi High Court order –– Union Minister JP Nadda said he had urged him to end his hunger strike.
Wangchuk joined the CJP-led protests in late June, commencing an indefinite hunger strike to push for the aforementioned demands. Last week, he was removed from Jantar Mantar by Delhi Police and taken to Safdarjung Hospital.
Nadda said the government was open to holding a dialogue with the stakeholders. “Our government is open to discussions on all issues and is always willing to address them. Today, he (Wangchuk) wrote me an open letter. We will respond to that letter, and after responding, we will ensure that the talks move forward”.
