Explosions were reported in parts of Iran late on Wednesday, according to several Iranian state media outlets, as the US carried out a second night of strikes.

Explosions were heard in Sirik and Bandar Abbas, a major port city in southern Iran’s Hormozgan province, Iranian media reported. Reports also said blasts were heard in other locations, including Lavan Island, Chabahar and Sirik Island.

US military confirms fresh strikes

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that American forces had launched additional strikes against Iran.

In a statement on X, CENTCOM said the operations were carried out “to further degrade” Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway,” the command said.

The latest strikes mark the second consecutive night of US military action against targets in Iran.

Trump Says Flare-up Will ‘End Quickly’

The reported strikes came shortly after US President Donald Trump said the latest military flare-up with Iran would end “very quickly”.

Speaking to reporters at the end of a two-day NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said he did not expect a full-scale conflict with Iran to break out following military strikes by both sides.

“I don’t think it’s going to start again. I think it’s going to go very quickly. They hit a couple of ships, and so we hit them much harder,” Trump said.

“Anything that happens is going to be over very quickly … and will only make it safer, including for oil,” he said.
