Quick commerce is rapidly overtaking traditional e-commerce in the country. According to Equirus Capital’s June 2026 Consumer Sector Report, India’s digital commerce market is estimated to be worth Rs 8 lakh crore in 2026, of which quick commerce has a share of Rs 1.08 lakh crore. The most important thing is that Quick Commerce is growing at the rate of 40% on an annual basis, which is more than double the growth rate of the entire digital commerce. The dark store network of major companies like Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto has seen huge growth in the last one year. In May 2025, these three companies together had 3,405 dark stores, which increased to 5,026 in May 2026. This means that in just one year the number of dark stores has increased by almost one and a half times. This aggressive expansion shows that companies are rapidly expanding into smaller cities and new areas, so that the promise of delivery in 10-15 minutes can be fulfilled. According to the report, ice cream, beverages and face care products were the categories showing the fastest growth on Quick Commerce platforms this season. The demand for these products naturally increases during the summer season, but Quick Commerce played an important role in meeting this demand immediately, which has increased the pressure on traditional retail channels. Weak monsoon increases the risk of rural demand slowing down, although there is also news of concern for consumer sentiment. The report said that between June 4 and June 22, the country received only 53.1 mm of rainfall against the normal of 97.6 mm. That means a huge reduction of 46%. Due to this, June 2026 has become one of the driest months in the last 146 years. Analysts believe El Nino conditions and weak monsoon could adversely impact rural incomes and demand, which is a key foundation of FMCG consumption.
