Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will release it on July 10, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’. State Chief Secretary KK Pant will hold a review meeting of the preparations today (Monday) regarding the proposed visit of the Vice President.
In this coffee table book prepared by IIAS, the historical journey of ‘Vande Mataram’ from the year 1875 to 1950 has been presented on the basis of original records and authentic documents. The institute says that the objective is to make the historical facts and evidence related to the national song available to the common people, because this song has been deeply associated with the Indian independence movement.

Objections on the song also included in the Congress session
In this book, the composition of ‘Vande Mataram’, its importance, its role in the freedom struggle and the controversies that came up from time to time are also mentioned in detail. It includes research-based details ranging from the objections raised on this song for the first time in the Kakinada session of the Congress in 1923 to the process of removing four of its verses in 1937.
An exhibition of 20 rare paintings will also be organized
Along with the release ceremony, an exhibition of 20 rare pictures depicting the historical journey of ‘Vande Mataram’ will also be organized, so that people can understand the evolution of the national song with authentic evidence.
IIAS says that the institute ensures the quality and authenticity of any academic publication before making it public. Therefore all the facts included in this book are based on original records and historical sources. The institute believes that history cannot be changed and people should get factual and authentic information about ‘Vande Mataram’.
Mention of two different ideological streams also
According to sources, it was also mentioned in the book that two different ideological streams of leadership had emerged during the Indian national movement. One stream remained connected to Indian cultural roots while adopting modern ideas, while the other was more influenced by Western influences.
According to the study, it is necessary to understand the differences that emerged from time to time regarding ‘Vande Mataram’ in the context of the social and political circumstances of that period.
