Students at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Burari, Delhi, have reportedly been attending classes without electricity for the past two days, forcing them to study in extremely hot and humid classrooms.
The prolonged power outage has left classrooms without functioning fans, making it difficult for students to concentrate as temperatures continue to remain high. The situation has raised questions over the delay in restoring electricity at the government school.
Students Struggle As Heat Disrupts Classes
According to local residents, the lack of electricity has severely affected the learning environment. With fans lying idle and classrooms becoming increasingly uncomfortable, students have been forced to endure the scorching weather during school hours.
The situation reportedly became so serious that the school had to close early on Friday because of the intense heat inside the classrooms.
Residents Allege Administrative Delay
Office-bearers of the local Resident Welfare Association (RWA) alleged that the disruption could have been avoided if the technical issue had been addressed promptly. They claimed that the continued power outage has affected students’ studies and caused unnecessary hardship.
According to local residents, work to replace the faulty Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) and restore electricity is currently underway.
Questions Raised Over Delay In Repairs
While electrical maintenance work has now begun on the school premises, residents have questioned why it took several days to fix what they described as a minor technical fault.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the condition of infrastructure in Delhi government schools.
