Residents of a village in Gujarat’s Vadodara were taken aback after a woman alleged that her husband had gagged and raped their 13-year-old daughter when she was not at home. The child’s mother allegedly caught him during the assault. According to the police complaint, the accused had stuffed a piece of cloth in the girl’s mouth and raped her.
He fled the house after his wife returned and witnessed the incident. A case has been registered and police have launched an investigation.
The incident was reported from a village in Desar taluka of Vadodara. As per the complaint filed by the survivor’s mother, a quarrel broke out between the couple on the evening of June 28 over a domestic issue.
To avoid further escalation in tensions, the woman left home and went to stay for some time at the house of a female relative in a nearby area.
At the time, the couple’s 13-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son were at home. According to the complaint, the woman returned around midnight along with her sister and allegedly found her husband sexually assaulting their daughter inside the house.
The girl’s mouth had allegedly been stuffed with a cloth.
The complaint further said that the accused fled immediately after seeing his wife and her sister. The mother then removed the cloth from her daughter’s mouth, attended to her and tried to comfort her.
The child later allegedly narrated the incident to her mother and claimed that after her younger brother had fallen asleep, her father restrained her and sexually assaulted her against her will.
She further alleged that her mouth had been gagged to stop her from calling for help.
Following the alleged assault, the woman, accompanied by her sister and brother-in-law, approached Desar police station and lodged a complaint against her husband.
Police subsequently initiated legal proceedings and began action under the relevant provisions. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
