After nearly two weeks of a frustrating pause, the monsoon has reactivated over Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting that it will cover the entire state within the next few days — bringing relief to residents who have been battling oppressive heat.

Rain lashed parts of Mumbai since morning, with showers reported across Matunga, Senapati Bapat Road and other areas.

By 8:30 AM, heavy rain was recorded over the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

Weather tracker Rushikesh Agre posted on X that rains would “stay on peak” for the next few hours, with south and western suburbs expected to bear the brunt. He added that the second half of the day also looked wet.

Which Parts Of Maharashtra Are On Alert Today?

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Vidarbha, with Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia and Chandrapur districts likely to see hot and humid conditions alongside thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.

A yellow alert has been issued for the Konkan coast, covering Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, where heavy showers are likely at isolated places. Satara district in western Maharashtra has also been flagged for intense rain spells.

What Should Mumbaikars Watch Out For?

Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, warning that the next few hours are critical for the city. Pre-monsoon showers with lightning and thunderstorms have already been reported across Mumbai and surrounding areas.
