Mumbai Police arrested absconding accused in Mumbai’s BMW hit and run case and son of Shiv Sena leader Mihir Shah on Tuesday. He was absconding for two days. He had hit a couple riding a scooter with his luxury car, in which the woman died. On the other hand, the Excise Department took action and sealed the bar in Juhu, where the accused was served liquor.
A senior police officer said that 24-year-old Mihir Shah was on the run from the police since Sunday morning, but he was arrested from Virar near Mumbai. Before that, his mother and two sisters were brought to Mumbai from Shahpur in Thane district for questioning. All three of them were kept in the police station. Sources say that this pressure worked and a big success was achieved in the arrest of Mihir.
After the accident, he reached his girlfriend’s house and met his mother and sister
According to police sources, the accused Mihir Shah left his car after the accident and went to his girlfriend’s house in Borivali from Kalanagar by autorickshaw. There his girlfriend called his sister. After this, his sister and mother came to meet him. Then they left for Shahpur. After staying there for a day, Mihir left for Virar. Here he was using a friend’s mobile phone.
Even though the father got bail, there was political pressure on the family
Apart from this, Mihir Shah’s father Rajesh Shah had actively helped his son to escape. After the accident, he had planned to take away the BMW car. He was arrested by the police on Sunday itself, but on Monday the court granted him bail. Despite this, the political pressure on him had increased a lot, because the state CM Eknath Shinde had clearly said that whoever is guilty will not be spared.

The Excise Department of Maharashtra has sealed a bar in Juhu area of Mumbai, where Mihir Shah and his friends had gone on Saturday night. The bar manager there had served alcohol to Mihir, who is not even 24 years old yet. The legal age for drinking alcohol in Maharashtra is 25 years. The Excise Department official said that the action of sealing the bar was taken on the orders of the District Collector for violating the rules.

A police officer said, “After the accident in Worli area on Sunday morning, the victim was stuck in the tyre of the BMW car. After dragging her for some distance, Mihir and Bidawat stopped the car and pulled the woman out. Bidawat then took the driver’s seat and reversed the car and crushed the victim. After this, they fled from there.” The condition of the victim’s husband Pradeep Nakhwa, who was injured in this incident, is currently out of danger.
Eknath Shinde ordered strict action, police in action
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Monday that he has directed the police to take hit and run incidents involving influential persons seriously and ensure that justice is delivered. He said that he is very concerned about the rapid increase in hit and run incidents in Maharashtra. He said, “It is intolerable that influential people misuse their position to manipulate the system.”
CM Eknath Shinde had said, “The lives of common citizens are precious to us. I have instructed the police department to handle these cases with utmost seriousness and ensure justice. We are implementing strict laws with severe punishment for hit and run offenders. As long as I am the Chief Minister, no one will be spared, be it a rich, influential person or the child of a bureaucrat or a minister.”
