At least five men were injured in a series of violent attacks in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, with investigators examining whether the incidents were driven by anti Muslim hatred. A 36 year old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attacks.
According to the police cited by The Guardian, the incidents took place at multiple locations across the city on Friday evening, including Sighthill, Telford Road and Leith Walk. Some of the victims were reportedly returning from prayers at the Broomhouse Mosque when they were attacked. Three of the five injured men required hospital treatment, though none suffered life threatening injuries.

Counter terrorism officers have joined the investigation, although police have not formally declared the incidents an act of terrorism. Police Scotland said there is no ongoing threat to the public and have increased patrols in affected areas to reassure local communities.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the violence, describing the attacks as “absolutely appalling” and stating that no one should face violence because of their faith. Scottish First Minister John Swinney also denounced the incidents and expressed solidarity with the Muslim community.
