The Free Trade Agreement between India and Britain will come into force from 15 July 2026. PM Narendra Modi and British PM Keir Starmer announced this on Wednesday. This agreement was signed on 24 July 2025. The two leaders met at the G-7 summit in Evian, France. That means businessmen will get 28 days to prepare for the new system. PM Modi called it a historic achievement for India-UK relations.
Will reduce tariffs on Indian clothing, footwear and some food products. Indian skilled professionals will get relief from double social security contributions while working in Britain. This relief will be increased from 36 months to 60 months. Duty on British whiskey in India will be reduced from 150% to 40%. Duty on automobiles will be reduced from 100% to 10% under the quota.
