Thousands of people demonstrated in Albania’s capital Tirana against the luxury resort project of US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. This project costing about Rs 55 thousand crore is being opposed due to environmental concerns. Actually, this resort is to be built near a protected coastal area. The area is known to be home to wildlife such as flamingos, seals and sea turtles. The protesters carried posters such as ‘Albania is not for sale’ and chanted slogans against the government. They allege that transparency was not maintained regarding the project and foreign investors are being benefited. Prime Minister Edi Rama has said that the project will proceed as planned and will be completed responsibly. According to the local administration, all the injured have been admitted to the hospital and the condition of the injured is out of danger.
