LPG Price Hike: Domestic cooking gas consumers will have to pay more for their LPG cylinders as oil marketing companies have increased the price of domestic LPG by Rs 29 per cylinder, with effect from June 7, 2026. This is the second increase in domestic LPG prices in the last three months.

Following the latest LPG price hike, the price of a standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased to Rs 942 from Rs 913, news agency PTI has reported citing industry sources.

Domestic LPG Price Increased for Second Time in Three Months

The latest LPG price hike comes at a time when state-owned fuel retailers are facing mounting pressure from elevated global energy prices and rising import costs. Earlier, oil companies had raised LPG cylinder prices by Rs 60 per cylinder on March 7 after geopolitical tensions in West Asia pushed up international energy prices.

The PTI report, citing the industry sources, said the previous increase was not sufficient to fully compensate oil marketing companies for losses incurred on the sale of subsidised domestic cooking gas.

Why Has the LPG Cylinder Price Been Increased?

State-run fuel retailers were losing around Rs 703 on every domestic LPG cylinder sold before the latest revision. Despite recent price revisions, oil companies continue to face pressure from high international fuel prices and volatile crude oil markets. The government has so far avoided passing on the entire burden of higher global energy costs to consumers.

According to PTIoil marketing companies are still selling petrol and diesel below their actual cost, resulting in losses of about Rs 11 per litre on petrol and Rs 33.6 per litre on diesel.
