A Dubai-based cybersecurity researcher Rylen Anil, has alleged that JEE Advanced 2026 applicants data may have been exposed online without authentication. The claim, shared by Anil on social media platform X, stated a cloud storage configuration flaw. IIT Roorkee acknowledged the issue and said it was being addressed on priority.

Anil posted details of an alleged misconfiguration in the cloud storage used for JEE Advanced 2026 result infrastructure. According to his post, a publicly accessible storage location may have exposed a significant volume of candidate records and admit card PDFs.

The researcher claimed that nearly 1.79 lakh result records and around 1.87 lakh admit card PDFs were accessible without any authentication. He further alleged that the exposed data included candidate names, dates of birth, and mobile numbers. He also shared screenshots of admit card files of candidates. However, Anil clarified that the issue stemmed from a cloud storage misconfiguration rather than any breach involving tampering with records.

What IIT Roorkee Said?

A few hours after the post gained traction, IIT Roorkee responded publicly on X. The institute thanked the researcher for flagging the issue and confirmed the presence of a configuration problem in its cloud storage system.

“Thank you for pointing out the configuration issue in the cloud storage device. The same is being plugged on priority,” the institute said in its response.

IIT Roorkee also stated that the affected data was stored in read-only mode, ruling out the possibility of any alteration or modification. It further acknowledged the researcher’s responsible disclosure, describing it as ethical and appropriate.

The incident comes shortly after the announcement of JEE Advanced 2026 results on Monday.
