Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor will soon be seen in ZEE5’s web series ‘Brown’. This series, directed by Abhinay Dev, will stream on the OTT platform on June 5. This neo-noir crime thriller series stars Jisoo Sengupta, Surya Sharma, Soni Razdan and veteran actress Helen along with Karisma. Whereas Paresh Pahuja, Meghna Malik, Ajinkya Dev, K.K. Raina and singer Shaan will also be seen in special roles. Abhinay Dev talked to Dainik Bhaskar about this series and its shooting experience. This series will tell the story of characters more than crime. Regarding the best thing about this story, Abhinay said that when I read the book based on it, I liked the fact that it is written like a crime story, but all its characters are very good. These characters have been written in great depth in the book and we have tried to show them with the same sensitivity in the series also. These are such characters, which we see in everyday life, but are rarely seen in films. The shooting of this web series took place in the unseen streets of Kolkata. Abhinay told that the entire series has been shot at real locations and not a single set was made for it. We shot the entire shoot in Kolkata, but deliberately chose parts of the city that don’t usually appear in films. In this you will get to see such a face of Kolkata, which perhaps has not been shown in any film or series before. Many locations were so mysterious and frightening that even if someone was asked to stand there for half an hour, he would not feel comfortable. Balancing suspense and drama was the biggest challenge. On what is the most important thing while making a crime thriller, Abhinay said that in any such project, both suspense and drama have to be taken together. A director must have an equally strong grip on both these aspects, as both mystery and emotional engagement are necessary to keep the audience engaged with the story. According to him, if a director tries to give equal importance to both these elements, he creates a big challenge for himself, because it is not easy to maintain a balance between the two.
