Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy faced protests outside a police station in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Thursday, with demonstrators allegedly shouting “thief” slogans and throwing eggs at his vehicle.
The senior TMC leader had visited the Nimta police station to submit a deputation over alleged attacks on party councillors in areas under Nimta and North Dum Dum, PTI reported.

As Roy was leaving the police station, a crowd gathered outside and raised slogans against him. According to reports, eggs were hurled at his car during the protest.
Police personnel stationed at the spot stepped in to control the situation and prevent further escalation.
Reacting to the incident, the TMC leader accused BJP supporters of orchestrating the protest.
“BJP supporters gathered there and created a disturbance when I was coming out of the police station. They shouted slogans and hurled eggs at my car. This kind of politics is unfortunate,” he told reporters.
However, the BJP denied any organisational involvement and maintained that local residents were venting anger over alleged corruption and irregularities during the TMC government’s tenure.
“People are frustrated over corruption and have spontaneously protested. It has nothing to do with the BJP as a political party,” a BJP leader of the area said.
