Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final, with Ian Wright backing Mikel Merino to score the winner after his injury comeback.

Former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright has said that Mikel Merino has been coming off an injury and the setback would propel him to score the winner for the team against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final.

Wright claimed that Merino’s story was already written after his return from injury.

Speaking on The OverlapMerino admitted that the final would be a tough contest, describing Paris Saint-Germain as an unbelievable team. He added that Arsenal weren’t far behind in quality and expressed hope that they would emerge victorious on Saturday, May 30.

“We know it’s going to be a very tough game. PSG is an unbelievable team. But, for certain, we know that we are as well. So, it’s going to be a tough one, a close one and hopefully, it’s going to be on our side,” Merino said.

Wright added that he was getting ‘good energy’ from Merino and predicted that the Spaniard would score the winning goal.

“I get winning goal energy off of you! I can feel the story now! You. I have been injured. Just come back at the end and then baam, winning goal! You heard it here first,” Wright said.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta said that he is ‘fully convinced’ that Arsenal can be crowned champions of Europe for the first time this weekend after ending their 22-year wait for a Premier League title.

Arsenal will take on reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League Final in Budapest after clinching their first Premier League title since 2004.

A star-studded Paris Saint-Germain, who thrashed Inter Milan 5-0 in last season’s final, are regarded as favourites to lift the European Cup once again.
