27-year-old Indian citizen Mohammed Shehzad Khan, working in Saudi Arabia, has died. Shehzad, a resident of Telangana, was trapped in the Saudi desert Rub-al Khali. It is said to be one of the most dangerous places in the world.
According to media reports, Shehzad was passing through this area with a friend from Sudan. On the way, their GPS signal failed. After some time, the fuel in their car and the battery of their phone also ran out, due to which they were unable to ask for help from anyone.
Shehzad and his friend were stranded in the scorching heat of the desert for a long time without any food or water. Due to hunger and thirst, their health deteriorated and both of them died. The bodies of Shehzad and his friend were found four days later on August 22 near their bike in the desert. Shehzad had been working in a telecommunication company in Saudi Arabia for the last three years.
Rub-al Khali is the largest part of the Arabian desert. It stretches for 650 kilometers.

Rub-al Khali is one of the driest areas in the world. A large part of it has not been explored yet. This desert has huge reserves of petroleum under the sand. In 1948, the world’s largest conventional oil reserve was found in Al-Ghawar, a north-eastern area of this desert. Billions of barrels of oil are present in Al-Ghawar, 260 km from Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.
