Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. PM Modi asked ministers to finish pending work soon.
The meeting, which began at 5 pm, went for four and a half hours.
The meeting also assumes significance amid growing global economic concerns triggered by the escalating conflict in West Asia. The geopolitical tensions have pushed global crude oil prices above USD 100 per barrel, raising concerns over inflationary pressure in India, which imports nearly 85% of its crude oil requirement. Rising oil prices are expected to impact fuel costs, transportation expenses and overall inflation in the country.
The Prime Minister has recently appealed to people to reduce fuel use, gold purchases, and foreign travel.
