One last ride in Paris is officially on for Stan Wawrinka and Gael Monfils.

Roland Garros confirmed Monday that both veteran stars have been awarded wildcards into the Men’s Singles main draw for the upcoming 2026 French Open.

For three-time Slam winner Wawrinka, it marks a remarkable 21st appearance at Roland Garros. The 41-year-old Swiss great is currently competing in what is expected to be his final ATP Tour season, bringing the curtain down on a glittering career that included three Grand Slam titles.

Meanwhile, French crowd favourite Monfils will receive one final standing ovation at his home Grand Slam.

The 39-year-old has also announced that 2026 will be his final season on tour, making this his last-ever Roland Garros appearance. Tournament organisers are reportedly preparing a special celebration to honour one of France’s most beloved tennis stars.

Monfils first appeared at Roland Garros back in 2005 and has missed just one edition since then. His best result came in 2008, when he reached the semi-finals before falling to Federer in four sets.

Young French Talent Also Rewarded

Eight players have been given a wildcard in the men’s draw, with the large majority unsurprisingly going to up-and-coming French stars.

Titouan Droguet, Hugo Gaston, Arthur Gea, Gael Monfils and Moise Kouame have received wildcards, with the latter proving very exciting over the last few months.

The 2026 Roland Garros main draw begins on May 25, with qualifying scheduled for the week prior. The women’s and men’s finals will take place on June 6 and 7 respectively.
